AB De Villiers Praises MS Dhoni As the Best Finisher: De Villiers Lauded MS Dhoni saying that he was the best finisher and also said that MS Dhoni should bat higher up the order for CSK bearing in mind in the Indian Premier League 2024 season.

In this IPL 2024, Dhoni has scored 87 runs from 5 innings at a strike rate of 255.88. In the match with LSG, he did not show any rustiness and looked good at his bat.

De Villiers Said on his YouTube channel that,

“Yeah, I understand he is a guy who is not playing a lot of cricket these days. He comes in, prepares for the IPL and that’s all he plays. So, maybe him batting down the order has come from himself thinking that he is not in such great form, maybe the younger guys, who play 12 months of the year, deserve a chance to bat up the order.”

“But, with stats like these, it’s very difficult for me to agree with that. 28 not out off 9 vs LSG, 20 off 4 against MI, 37 off 16 vs DC. Look at all that not outs, that’s ridiculous.”

“At what point do we think that maybe he is good enough to go out at No. 5 or No. 6. I am not saying go and bat at No. 3. But just give yourself a few more deliveries. You are so destructive as a batter. You can win games for CSK, you have done so for so many years.”

“I would say he should probably bat a little bit higher. I would say between overs, 12-14, if a wicket falls, no matter if they are 1 down or 5 down, he should go in.

Maybe they should do a strategy like that. It will be very effective for CSK. He is the most destructive batter still for CSK after all these years. The best finisher by a country mile, at the moment, I think in the entire IPL,” he added. 

CSK going to lock horns with LSG on Tuesday, April 23 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
