BCCI announces Avesh Khan as Mohammed Shami’s replacement for 2nd Test against South Africa

New Delhi: The Board od Control for Cricket in India have announced Avesh Khan as the replacement of injured Mohammed Shami for the second Test match against South Africa which will be played from January 3 at Capetown, South Africa.

Avesh Khan was part of the Indian ODI squad that recently featured against Proteas and the pacer is yet to make his debut in Test cricket.

Mohammed Shami’s replacement

The Indian Men’s Selection Committee announced Avesh Khan as the replacement for Shami in the upcoming Test. The announcement adds an element of anticipation to the contest, as cricket enthusiasts look forward to witnessing Avesh’s performance in the do or die encounter.

India are still looking for their maiden Test series on South African soil as they lost the recently concluded 1st Test match which was played at Centurion. India lost the match by an inning and 32 runs.

Nandre e Burger’s sensational spell combined with South Africa’s all-rounded performance secured a win by an innings and 32 runs for the Proteas against India in the first Test on Thursday at the SuperSport Park.

After a dismal start to their second innings, South Africa struct India hard by removing Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul in quick succession. After Burger removed Ravichandran Ashwin for a golden duck, India’s fate was more or less sealed.
