BCCI Says No Fireworks In Mumbai & Delhi Matches For ICC World Cup

BCCI Says No Fireworks In Mumbai & Delhi Matches For ICC World Cup 2023: Due to the air pollution and bad air quality in two megacities, BCCI has banned performing the fireworks during the rest of World Cup 2023 matches in Mumbai and Delhi.

According to the recent complaints about the worsening air quality on various entertainment, media, and social media platforms, the Indian Cricket Board has declared that there will be no fireworks display during the Cricket World Cup matches in Mumbai and Delhi cities.

On Thursday, India is going to play a World Cup match against South Africa at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Next Monday, the Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka match is going to be held at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in Delhi.

Honorary Secretary, Jay Shah was quoted as stating by ANI, “BCCI is sensitive to environmental concerns. I took up the matter formally with the ICC and there won’t be any fireworks display in Mumbai, which can add to the pollution level. The Board is committed to combating environmental issues and will always place the interest of our fans and stakeholders at the forefront”.

“The BCCI acknowledges the urgent concern surrounding air quality in both Mumbai and New Delhi. While we strive to host the ICC World Cup in a manner befitting the celebration of cricket, we remain steadfast in our commitment to prioritizing the health and safety of all our stakeholders,” he further said.

The AQI report of Mumbai city is in the moderate category today and Delhi recorded an AQI of the very poor category for the 5th successive day on Wednesday.

According to the statement by PTI, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has declared that from November 1st, only electric buses, CNG, and diesel engines that comply with BS VI norms will be permitted to operate between Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan that fall within the National Captial Region (NCR).
