Chetan Sakariya included in BCCI’s list of players with suspect bowling action

Indian left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya is one among the seven players in the BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) suspect bowling action list. Although he will not be facing a ban for the time being, there was a lack of awareness surrounding the whole situation. The cricket board is committed to addressing this matter appropriately and ensuring fair play and adherence to regulations in the upcoming course of action.

Wrong Chetan Named in the Suspect List

Not Chetan Sakaria, but a player from the south zone with a similar name, Chetan was supposed to be named in the suspect list. Including Chetan, the other 6 players reported for suspect bowling action are Tanush Kotian of Mumbai Cricket Association, Rohan Kunnummal of the Kerala Cricket Association, Salman Nizar of the Kerala Cricket Association, Chirag Gandhi of the Gujarat Cricket Association, Saurabh Dubey of the Vidarbha Cricket Association and Arpit Guleria of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.

“It was a sort of miscommunication and error, and Chetan has never been called, and he is not on that list. I understand that the name of a Karnataka bowler should have been there, and the IPL is addressing the issue. The franchises are also being duly informed,” Jaydev Shah, the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) President, was quoted as saying to Cricbuzz.

Sakaria gained prominence during his stint with Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021 and was released by his last franchise, Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2024. He is 27th in the list of players auction list with a base price of INR 50 lakhs.

Chetan Sakariya’s Domestic Season

Sakariya was absent throughout the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy seasons. His last appearance was during IPL 2023, where he played just 2 matches picking up three wickets with the best figures of 2/53.
