Current Young Cricketers Cant Choose Iconic No.7 Dhoni’s Jersey: Recently, BCCI decided to retire Dhoni’s Jersey number 7, and they have reportedly said to the Young Indian players not to choose No.7 and No.10 as it is Sachin Tendulkar’s jersey number which has been removed from the list in 2017.

BCCI Announced “Current Indian team players have been told not to pick M S Dhoni’s Number 7 jersey”

Previously, Sachin Tendulkar’s Jersey number 10 has been removed from the list, and now it’s time to retire Dhoni’s number 7 jersey. If any new cricketer enters the cricket world, he will be given a chance to decide his jersey number from the numbers 1 to 100.

According to the Indian Express Report, BCCI informed Young Indian Players that they can’t request the No.7 and No.10 jersey anymore as they got removed from the list.

A senior BCCI official said to Indian Express, “The young players and current Indian team players have been told not to pick M S Dhoni’s Number 7 jersey.

The BCCI has decided to retire Dhoni’s T-shirt for his contribution to the game. A new player can’t get No. 7, and No. 10 was already off the list of available numbers.”

Dhoni has hung his boots from the cricket team in 2020. He is one of the biggest names in Indian Cricket and also the one captain who won the three ICC tournaments in the White ball cricket.

By retiring the Jersey numbers obviously, Young Indian Cricketers will have fewer options to choose from. Another senior official of BCCi has told to Indian Express that,

“At present, 60-odd numbers are designated to the regulars in the Indian team and those in contention. So even if a player is out of the team for about a year or so, we don’t give away his number to a new player.

That means a recent debutant has just 30-odd numbers to choose from.”
