Recently Kaneria was interviewed by Aaj Tak, and he spoke about his critique of Rizwan’s public expression of Islamic religion. Danish advised that these religious actions should be restricted to the dressing room or else closed places not publicly on the cricket field.

Besides, he also stated that Indian cricketers such as Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are popular for their religious rites but not publicly.

The lines Kaneria said in the interview, “For this current Pakistani team, religion comes first, then it’s politics, while cricket is the third priority. I don’t understand their antics. If you want to offer Namaz, do it in the dressing room,”

“What’s the need to do it in front of everyone? We also do our Puja. But we don’t start doing Aarti on the ground. What do you think—Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli don’t pray, or Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj don’t offer Namaz?,” the former Pakistani spinner Danish added.

Kaneria’s Personal Experience On Discrimination & Religious Troubles Faced In His Career

Danish Kaneria also spoke about his experience with the discrimination he faced during his playing days in the interview. He openly revealed how Shahid Afridi constantly talked about religion with him and he forced him to convert him to Islam. With the support of two people, he faced all the challenges during his playing days and stood in this position.

The Karachi-born cricketer ended his conversion with Aaj tak by voicing, “I was doing well in my career and was playing county cricket too. Inzamam-ul-Haq supported me a lot and was the only captain who did so. Alongside him, Shoaib Akhtar. Shahid Afridi and many other Pakistan players troubled me a lot and didn’t used to eat with me. They used to talk about conversion, but my religion is everything to me. Shahid Afridi was the main person telling me to convert and did it a lot of times. Inzamam-ul-Haq never used to talk that way,”
