India vs South Africa: Indian pacer Deepak Chahar could miss the upcoming South Africa tour. Deepak’s name was available in India’s squad for the ODIs and T20Is against South Africa. He returned to the Indian squad for the 4th and 5th T20Is against Australia.

Chahar played in the 4th T20I but was not available for selection in the final T20I as he flew to Aligarh due to a medical emergency. Deepak Chahar’s father Lokendra Sign was at a wedding in Aligarh and there he suffered a brain stroke and was taken to the hospital, as per reports.

Chahar got to know his father’s medical emergency news on December 2 and he immediately rushed to the hospital where his father was admitted. He spoke to Sports Tak and revealed that he has decided to stay with his father until he is out of danger, adding that he has informed head coach Rahul Dravid about the situation.

“We got him to the hospital on time. Else, it could have been dangerous. His condition is better at the moment. People were asking, why I didn’t play the final T20I against Australia. For me, my father is very important. He made me the player I am. I cannot leave him in this condition and couldn’t go anywhere”.

“That’s why I am staying with my father and once he is out of danger I will start my journey to South Africa. I have talked to Rahul sir and the selectors. Right now my father’s condition is better,” said Chahar.

Meanwhile, the Suryakumar Yadav-led Indian T20 side beat Australia 4-1. It will now be interesting to see who replaces Deepak for the tour of South Africa. The first batch of players are set to leave today. On the Chahar issue, there is nothing official as of now.

India’s T20 squad: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (C), Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (wk), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Ravindra Jadeja (VC), Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Mohd Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and Deepak Chahar.
