Instead, there will be a toss-up between KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel for the wicketkeeper’s spot for the first Test at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad starting on Thursday.

Dravid remarked that Rahul, who maintained beautifully in the two-match Test series against South Africa, has been loosened from keeping duties. Yet, the team requires an expert ‘keeper in the mix and thus, Bharat has the potential to get the responsibility when India takes on England at the Uppal Stadium on Thursday.

Rahul Dravid Confirms that KL Rahul relieved from Keeping Duties

While speaking at media on Tuesday in Hyderabad, Head coach Dravid expressed that while Rahul has been amazing behind the stumps, the team has two professional wicketkeepers who will be chosen for the position.

“Rahul will not be playing as a wicket-keeper in this series and we are clear about that in the selection itself. We have picked two other wicket-keepers and Rahul did a fantastic job for us in South Africa and played a big part in helping us draw the series,” Rahul Dravid stated in the press conference.

“But considering five Test matches (against England) and playing in these conditions the selection will be between the two other keepers we have,” he said.
