Ex-selector shouts Rohit Kohli’s Return is Good & They Changed Selectors’ Thinking: India’s upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan will witness the return of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma to the shortest format after a long gap. On Sunday, BCCI declared the squad for the series and named Rohit because of Hardik Pandya’s injury.

In the past 13 months, India has mainly focused on Tests and ODIs, keeping these two-star players away from the T20Is. This is their first T20Is and the previous defeat against England in the T20 World Cup 2022 semi-final in Australia was horrible.

Considering and focusing on the T20I World Cup 2024 series in mind, many of the stars have called for the addition of  Rohit and Kohli to the team, quoting that the squad is supposed to be in experienced hands in this event.

At the same time, Kiran More expressed that the two current-era people have made their place on the back of outstanding knocks in the ODI & ICC tournaments along with the succeeding South Africa tour.

Speaking to an interviewer, Kiran More said “Your (selectors) thinking changed slightly after two years. I don’t know what their thinking was earlier but both gave fantastic performances in the World Cup and looked in form in the South Africa series as well.”

“The way Rohit Sharma captained in the World Cup and we reached the final as well, he played exceptional innings, the aggression he showed, so the thinking changed slightly. So both have been recalled and it is very good news for Indian cricket,” he added.

Ex-selector Kiran More About Hardik’s Fitness

Kiran has also spoken about the recovery of Hardik. His opinion on his recovery is the all-rounder is required to gain his physical fitness and some match-time to contribute his skills in the West Indies and the USA T20 World Cup 2024 for the victory of the men in blue.

“Hardik needs to get fit and start playing cricket first, that’s extremely necessary. Once he does that, he ticks all the boxes. He has also been the captain earlier. We don’t know the selectors’ thinking, what has gone on inside, but Hardik will come into the team as soon as he gets fit,” Kiran stated.

“He needs to play matches before the World Cup. We don’t know when he will start, probably in the IPL, but he is preparing hard. He is the world’s top all-rounder and every team will want to have him,” More added further.
