India successfully defend lowest total ever in T20 WC history with win over Pakistan

It was a fighting comeback by the team India as they managed to get their victory over arch-rivals Pakistan to make it two wins in as many games in the T20 World Cup 2024. Their win over their next-door neighbours was a riveting clash between two fine teams but India came out on top and managed to hold an interesting record.

After making a win against Pakistan, India managed to register their lowest score defended in the T20I format. Their previous record was against New Zealand which took place in a bilateral series and the game took place in Thiruvananthapuram in November 2017.

The records also show that India managed to defend 67 runs against New Zealand in Thiruvananthapuram in November 2017 but that game was a shortened one due to rain. Both teams had only 8 overs to play.

The Indian team had their pacers to thank as pacers were on the money right from ball one. Despite Babar and Rizwan getting a steady start, the main man Jasprit Bumrah delivered the breakthrough taking the wicket of the Pakistan skipper.

Later in the game, Axar Patel also chipped in with the wicket of Usman Khan. Hardik Pandya also followed with the twin strikes to get rid of Fakhar Zaman along with Shadab Khan to shift the momentum in India’s side.

Jasprit Bumrah was the star of the show as he got the big wicket of Rizwan who looked set and was eyeing to see the chase through to the end. Arshdeep Singh also chipped in with the wicket of Imad Wasim.

“He is the best white ball Indian bowler in the history” – Irfan Pathan

Arshdeep managed to close out the final over to help the Indian team seal their second win and take them to the top of their respective group and are well ahead to make it out to the super-8s.
