T20 World Cup 2024: Jasprit Bumrah Reveals ‘Focus on Enjoying Game’ is His Success Mantra

T20 World Cup 2024: India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is keen to focus on keeping things simple rather than complicating them heading into the T2o World Cup 2024.

Jasprit Bumrah, who will be leading India’s bowling attack in the marquee tournament, is also considered as a support system to the youngsters in the side.

The T20 World Cup 2024 is all set to take place in the West Indies and the USA from June 2 with India kicking off their campaign against Ireland on June 5.

Bumrah is making a return in the all-important tournament, having missed out on the participation in the 2022 edition that cost India the title.

The star pacer is out of competitive cricket for a period between 2022 and 2023 due to a back injury but made a remarkable return with an incredible performance in the ODI World Cup in India last year.

“Since I have come back from my injury, I have only focused on enjoying the game as much as I can. Because certain things will go my way. Few things will not go my way, Bumrah told ICC.

“All of these things will be a part of my process. So I have just realised that I started playing this sport. Because I love this sport,” Bumrah added.

The star pacer has 74 T20I wickets to his name, making him the third player with the most wickets for India in the shortest format. He had a promising career so far and his success in white-ball cricket can be attributed to his lethal yorkers which can get the better of the better’s defence at any point in time.

“So I played a lot of tennis ball, rubber ball cricket when I was growing up. I used to play a lot with my friends in summer cramps. And on summer vacations. Or whenever you used to get a lot of time,” Bumrah said.

“So when I was a kid, I used to think that this is the only way to get wickets. Because I was a fan of fast bowling. I was really fascinated by what I saw on the television,” Bumrah added.

He even said that consistent practice has helped him master his yorker skills.

“Is it (tennis-ball cricket) a secret (to bowling yorkers) or not? I don’t know. But repetition surely is. Because I have kept this delivery. I still practice it. I keep on practising it. Because every skill that you develop, you have to practice it and make it stronger,” Bumrah said.
