Gujarat Titans batter Kane Williamson reunited with his former franchise owner Kavya Maran during yesterday’s IPL fixture. Amid the pause due to rainfall, Williamson greeted Kavya and her entourage present at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

The Hyderabad based franchise has now shared a clip of the warm interaction on social media platform X. In the video, the New Zealand batter could be seen shaking hands with some people just when his ex-owner excitedly shouted, “Kane!”

The ex-player responded, “Kavya! How are you?”. He then hugged Kavya who asked the New Zealand skipper about how he was doing. “How are you? I’m fine, huh… All good?,” she was heard saying.

Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad were set to compete in a crucial fixture in IPL 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium on May 17. But an interruption from rainfall led to both teams taking home a point each, sealing a playoff spot for Hyderabad.

The joy of making the playoffs was quite seen on Kavya Maran’s face, who warmly greeted her club’s ex-captain with a wide smile. The small yet warm meet-up between Kane Williamson and Kavya has now sparked several reactions from cricket fans in the replies section. One of them commended Kavya for being a genuinely a good club owner. “Team owner like her (orange heart emoji)” he wrote.

Another said, “Kavya calls Kane first, then asks ‘all good?’ Such a sweetheart she is. Kane mama is lub”.

In one reply, a social media user congratulated the franchise on making the playoffs. “Congratulations guys, truly deserved for the playoffs spot go well”, the supporter wrote.

Another fan showered his love on the cricketer by saying, “Kane mama of 2018 is what we miss”.

Kane Williamson is one of the finest players to have played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. His popularity amongst the franchise is well-earned. The New Zealand batter made significant contributions to the franchise in his eight seasons at Hyderabad.

Kane Williamson played for the SRH team from 2015 to 2022. During his tenure, he scored 2,101 runs for Hyderabad at an average of 36.22. His tally includes 18 half-centuries. He has also won the trophy in 2016. Williamson had captained Hyderabad to an IPL final in 2018, eventually losing to the CSK.
