KL Rahul Appointed as India Vice Captain After Hardik Pandya Ruled Out of WC: Report

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 after his left ankle injury against Bangladesh in Pune last month. As he is ruled out of the World Cup, BCCI has replaced him with Prasidh Krishna. Hardik Pandya was the vice-captain of the Indian team in the ongoing World Cup 2023. BCCI has also announced the new vice-captain, KL Rahul.

The International Cricket Council has confirmed that Pandya has been ruled out of the remaining World Cup matches and he has been ruled out of the remainder of the mega tournament after failing to recover from an injury to his left ankle he sustained the league match against Bangladesh on 19th October.

From now on, KL Rahul will be attending all team meetings of bowlers and batsmen as the vice-captain and will be consulted by the team management in all key decisions taken.

“The BCCI has appointed KL Rahul as the vice-captain of the Indian team for the remainder of the World Cup. He was informed about it on Saturday morning by chairman of the selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, whi us travelling with the team”, a BCCI official told at press meet.

Rahul’s performance behind the stumps has been outstanding. In seven matches played, he has contributed to 9 dismissals, comprising 8 catches and one stumping.
