Rinku Singh Reveals Messages with India Captain Rohit Sharma after T20 World Cup 2024 sunb

Indian batter Rinku Singh was named in the team’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024 which will begin on June 2 in the West Indies and the USA.

While many expected Rinku’s name to be one of the first ones in the teamsheet, he was not included in the 15-member squad announced by the BCCI for the marquee tournament.

Despite a successful IPL 2023 season and a promising outing for the Men in Blue, Rinku only managed to make it to the travelling reserves alongside Shubman Gill, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan.

Opening up on the T20 World Cup snub, Rinku revealed the communication from skipper Rohit Sharma, saying that the veteran advised him to keep working hard as there is another World Cup after two years.

“Yes, anyone feels a little bad if he is not selected despite good performance. However, this time I could not get selected due to the team combination. It is okay, one should not think too much about things that are not in one’s hands.”

“Yes, I was a little upset in the beginning. Whatever happened is fine. Whatever happens, happens for good. Rohit Bhaiya did not say anything special. He only said that just keep working hard. There is a World Cup again after 2 years. There is no need to worry too much. This is what he said to me,” Rinku Singh told Dainik Jagaran after KKR won the IPL trophy.

The left-handed batter praised Rohit’s support to the young players and said that the world knows how good a captain he is.

“The whole world has seen how good his captaincy is. If I talk about myself, I have done only one tour with him so far. I have not even talked to him much. He supports the youth a lot. He only wants the youth to do well and he always says that play, do well,” Rinku Singh concluded on Rohit Sharma.

After a successful season last year when he smashed 474 runs for KKR in 14 matches at 59.25, Rinku managed just 168 runs in IPL 2024 at an average of 18.67.

Having made his international debut in August last year, Rinku has represented the Men in Blue in 15 T20I matches and has scored 356 runs at an average of 89, also smashing two fifties.

Talking about the T20 World Cup, the first batch of Indian players consisting of skipper Rohit, Ravindra Jadeja, Jasprit Bumrah and others have reached New York.

Team India is placed in Group A and will kick off their campaign with the match against Ireland on June 5.
