Shahid Afridi Named As One of The Ambassadors for ICC T20 World Cup 2024: ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is going to start on June 1, with co-hosts USA facing Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, setting the stage for a thrilling tournament.
For the World Cup, 4 ambassadors were chosen one of the names was Pakistan legend Shahid Afridi. In the mega event on June 1, he is also going to join India’s Yuvraj Singh, ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle, and the fastest man on Earth Usain Bolt.
Shahid Afridi Joins Gayle, Yuvraj & Bolt As Ambassador For ICC T20 World Cup 2024
Pakistan legend Shahid Afridi has been named as an Ambassador for the tournament of T20 World Cup 2024. Afridi was the Player of the Series award winner in the inaugural edition of the tournament back in 2007.
In 34 T20 World Cup matches, Afridi scored 546 runs at an average of 18.82 and picked up 39 wickets with a couple of 4-wicket hauls to his name. He also won the Player of the Match award after Pakistan beat Sri Lanka in the final of the 2009 T20 World Cup at the iconic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.
He said that,
“The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is an event that is very close to my heart. From being Player of the Tournament in the inaugural edition to lifting the trophy in 2009, some of my favorite career highlights have come from competing on this stage.”
“T20 World Cups have gone from strength to strength in recent years, and I’m thrilled to be part of this edition, where we will see more teams, more matches, and even more drama than ever before.”

“I am particularly excited to witness the India v Pakistan fixture on 9 June. It is one of the great rivalries in sport and New York will be a fitting stage for this unmissable encounter between two great teams,” Afridi added.
