Shastri Calls for Arshdeep Singh’s Assistance as Shardul Thakur Struggles with Poor Bowling in the ‘Ranji Trophy‘: In the 1st test of the India vs South Africa match that was held in Centurion. India managed to put in a lackluster performance but it ended up defeating 32 runs ahead of South Africa.

Due to the slow pitch in Centurion, India was not able to score well, KL Rahul scored a century that helped India. Also, the former coach of the Indian Cricket team Ravi Shastri was critical of Shardul Thakur’s Performance in the centurion test.

Former coach Ravi Shastri feels India was always lacking the best bowling attacks, as Shardul’s Performance was just average as he has taken only 7 wickets in 7 tests, whereas Prasidh Krishna was in his debut, and Shami was not in the match due to his ankle injury.

Thakur failed to create much impact in the tests with both bat and ball. Sashtri said after the innings that India got defeated by South Africa,

“India lacked experience in their bowling attack. They’ve got two of them who are reasonably experienced – Bumrah and Siraj – but they missed Shami big time. Shardul Thakur is not a baby, but he is the 4th seamer.

You need a proper third seamer and that makes a massive difference overseas,”

Anyway, India needs an experienced pacer for India, but they only have Mukesh Kumar as an additional pacer who is new to the tests.

Shastri added ” The thing is you want to see his First-Class record. Can he bowl long spells? Has he played a lot of Ranji Trophy cricket? I would go and make him play a lot of it.

Ranji and First-Class cricket, and keep him in the mix because if someone can swing it like he did with the white ball in South Africa, he could be a handy customer.”

Next, India is going to move to Cape Town for the final test against South Africa. That is the match that will decide the win for South Africa or equal win.
