Sri Lanka Cricket Calls for Urgent Explanation from National Team Coaching Staff and Selectors
Sri Lanka has only 2 matches out of 7 in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. In the recent match with India, the player’s performance was not up to the mark. Sri Lanka was bowled out for just 55 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India won that match with a 302-run victory against Sri Lanka.
A heavy loss against India has dented their chances to qualify for the semis in CWC 2023. After Sri Lanka’s poor performance in this tournament, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has called for an urgent and comprehensive explanation from the players, coaching staff and selectors about the poor show in the ongoing World Cup.

Sri Lanka Cricket Calls Explanation For Poor Show in CWC 2023
Sri Lanka Cricket Board has released an official statement regarding that they have asked for a response from the players, selectors, and coaches. A press release note says, “Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has expressed its deep concern and disappointment over the performance of the Sri Lanka National Team during the ongoing World Cup 2023… In light of these concerns, SLC has called for an urgent and comprehensive explanation from the entire coaching staff and selectors.”
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board has asked the coaching staff and selectors to explain the team strategy, preparation, team selection, player performance and post-match analysis of the game. SLC stated in a press meeting, “The organization aims to open a constructive dialogue to identify areas for improvement and ensure a more competitive showing in future matches.” The board members have also asked several questions on the team preparation and planning.
Sri Lanka team have won only 2 out of 7 matches they have played in ODI World Cup 2023. Now, they have to play with Bangladesh and New Zealand to complete their WC campaign. The team won against England and the Netherlands. They lost to Afghanistan in the league-round game played at Pune.
