Why Michael Vaughan says India is one of the ‘most underachieving cricket teams in the world’?

During the second test between AUS and PAK at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Vaughan made the statement and he even underlined that the sub-continent team has not won any of the ICC trophies since the champions trophy in 2013.

Vaughan questioned Mark Waugh while teasing the team India on the defeat against South Africa. He asked Mark, “Do you think, India is the most underachieving team in international cricket,”

Australia player Mark Waugh hasn’t replied with any controversial comments to this question, later he asked the same thing to Former Michael Vaughan.

“They haven’t won anything big in recent times. They are the most underachieving team in the world. With the talent and resources they have, they should achieved a lot by now.” replied Vaughan.

He also acknowledged that India’s series of conclusive efforts in Australia were immense, yet further, he expressed that the Blue team have failed to play brilliant in World Cups.

He even stressed and added, “They’ve won in Australia twice (Test series in 2018/19 and 2020/21). Magnificent. But the last few World Cups, (they have) been nowhere, in the last few T20 World Cups, (they have) been nowhere”.

Further Former England captains also babbled India must have achieved more than what they could do as long as the talent available to them.

“They’re a good team. They have got plenty of talent but with all the talent they have and the resources they have, I just don’t think they win,” England player Michael stated.
