Three Spinners in Playing XI for 1st Test Against India & Anderson Misses Out

Three Spinners in Playing XI for 1st Test Against India & Anderson Misses Out: As we all know, England and India are going to play their five-match series, in that five-match series, the first match is going to be held in Hyderabad on January 22 which is on Thursday.

And England has announced their Playing XI for the first match against India. And Veteran Pacer James Anderson has no place in the playing XI of the first match instead Ben Stokes and coach Brendon McCullum have decided to go spin-heavy.

Even due to visa issues young spinner Shoaib Bashir was unavailable for selection. And their selection team has named three spinners by adding Tom Hartley and it is his debut.

Now, England is going to attack India with only 3 spinners and one seamer. And now Shoaib has gone to his hometown to sort out that VISA issue and hoping he will rejoin the squad ahead of the second match which is going to be held in Vizag.

Now, if we see the list of England Players for the Playing XI for the first match,

Below is the list of playing XI for the first test match of IND vs ENG.

  • Zak Crawley
  • Ben Duckett
  • Ollie Pope
  • Joe Root
  • Jonny Bairstow
  • Ben Stokes (C)
  • Ben Foakes
  • Rehan Ahmed
  • Tom Hartley
  • Mark Wood
  • Jack Leach.

As England does not mention who will keep the wickets, everyone expects Ben Foakes after Jonny Bairstow resumes his duties as wicketkeeper as he is also an excellent batter.

Coming to captain Ben Stokes, even though he is an all-rounder, he said that he is not taking bowling duties, in this first match test against India.

As this game is debut for Tom Hartley, talking to Wisden Cricket, he said that,

“I’ve only been to India once but the pitches allow you to fire it in, you don’t even have to think about flight or guile or anything like that. You just let the pitch do the work.

In county cricket the pitches are a lot flatter, so spinners have to use their wits a bit more, whereas in India you’re the one who’s meant to be in control.”

Everyone is eagerly waiting to see who will win in this England and India test five-match series. England is hoping that they will win against India on this Indian soil.
