Virender Sehwag With Diana Edulji and Aravinda De Silva Inducted Into ICC Hall of Fame: On November 13 International Cricket Council Finalized the three legends to enter into the ICC Hall of Fame through a voting process conducted among existing ‘Hall of Famers, media representatives, and senior executives from FICA and the ICC, three new names will be added to the prestigious list of legends.

The three of them are none other than India’s Legendary Cricket Opener Virendra Sehwag, Sri Lankan’s iconic star Aravinda De Silva, and India’s First Woman Cricket Skipper Diana Edulji.

These cricketers are selected for the Hall of Fame as they are International cricketers if you see them throughout the cricket history of sports. These three are joining the inductees in the numbers 110, 111, and 112 respectively.

And we will see about the three of them one by one.

SriLankan Star Aravinda De Silva

If you see the Sri Lankan star Aravinda De Silva, is the 110th inductee on the list he had a 19-year career representing Sri Lanka, and he also scored a century in the 1996 World Cup final for guiding Sri Lanka to the maiden title.

If you see his record in ODIs, he scored an average of  34.909 for 284 runs in 308 matches, while also claiming 106 wickets. And coming to Test matches he played 93 and he scored 6,361 runs at an average of 42.97.

He was not only expertise in the red ball format but also expertise in the white ball format as he has 11 centuries on his name. Silva expressed gratitude to ICC,

“My sincere appreciation goes to the ICC, and the Hall of Fame voting committee for this extraordinary recognition. I share this honor with all who have stood by and shaped me.”

First Indian Cricket Woman Diana Edulji in the ICC Hall of Fame

The second inductee who was selected in the ICC Fall of Fame is Diana Edulji, and she is the first Indian woman selected for this Fall of Fame. Edulji picked 109 wickets in 54 matches for India across formats. She also played T20 Tests and 34 ODIs for India with 63 and 46 wickets, respectively.

And Edulji says about this ICC Fall of Fame,

“At the outset, I would like to thank the ICC and the jury for having selected me to be inducted into the ICC Hall Of Fame 2023.

It indeed is a great honor to be the first Indian women’s cricketer to be inducted and join a galaxy of cricketers, male, and female from across the world. I am delighted to be considered for this award.

It’s not only a proud moment for me, my family, and friends but also for BCCI and Indian Women’s Cricket.”

And finally, the third person selected for ICC Fall of Fame with the number 112 is Virendra Sehwag. He is the first dynamic Indian cricketer who hit a triple century.

Overall, Sehwag has 8,586 runs to his name at an average of 49.34 in 104 appearances. Sehwag’s talent was not limited to the red ball as he is equally deft with the white ball, and his record in ODIs is outstanding.

He has revolutionized the opener’s role in Test cricket and ended up scoring more runs at a greater rate than anyone in Test history.

Sehwag thanked the ICC for inducting him into the Hall of Fame,
“I feel extremely grateful for having spent a great part of my life doing what I loved most, ‘hitting the cricket ball’. I would also like to thank my family, friends, people I played with, and countless people who prayed for me selflessly”.
