Speaking on it, Kasi Vishwanathan said that 5-time champions will wait for MS Dhoni’s decision on his future.

Ahead of this IPL 2024, Dhoni stepped away from his captaincy duties and has a strong feeling for everyone that he is going to retire soon. 42-year-old MS Dhoni looked heartbroken after the Super Kings lost to RCB in their final league game of the IPL 2024 season earlier in May.

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan speaking in an interview, said that,

“(What is his future). I do not know. It’s a question that only MS can answer. See, the question for us is, we’ve always respected the decisions taken by MS. We have left it to him. And as all of you know, he has always taken his decisions and announced them at the appropriate time.”

“We do expect that we will get a decision as and when he decides. But we are very, very hopeful that he will be available for CSK next year. That is the view and the expectations of fans and me. That’s the case,” he added.

And also while taking that he talked about the captaincy change,

“As a franchise, and the discussions with the team management from before a couple of years when Ruturaj came into the CSK and started performing well.

We felt that he would be a good choice to captain the side. Both Flem [Fleming] and MS [Dhoni] had a long discussion with him, and they had plans to make him a future captain.”

“With his performances and the way he approached the game, they both felt that he would be a good captain for CSK. We were not disappointed; he led the side comfortably, and the seniors helped him.”

“It has not affected him [Gaikwad] or his performance; he has continued to be a consistent performer. I think the pressure of captaincy hasn’t affected him.

We look forward to his contribution to CSK in the future, and we are confident that he can take that pressure. Of course, the pressure is too high because he’s following MS’s footsteps, which no one can match. MS has the confidence that Rutu has it in him to do a very good job.”
