World Cup 2023: David Warner Enjoying Making Doubters ‘Look Stupid’

Australia opener David Warner says his ICC World Cup form is making doubters “Look stupid” and hopes to add to his mountain of runs in the next match against England. Warner scored a total of 413 runs with 2 centuries and 1 half-century in 6 six matches for Australia.

The 37-year-old left-handed batter shared his thoughts stating, “Everyone keeps writing me off. I’m doing as well as I can, I’m just trying to go out there and start as well as I can upfront in the first 10 overs. If I get in, I try and make the most of it.” He also applauded other team members especially Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh for providing support and maintaining pressure on the opposition.

Warner and Head shared a 175-run opening partnership against New Zealand. Warner commanded Head’s style, saying, “It seems to be hitting the middle all the time, and that’s the way he plays, and that is good because at the other end, it (puts) a bit of pressure on the bowlers, and then I can get some bad balls as well. We are gelling well together.”

Australia team is picking up really well in this tournament as they had won four consecutive matches. They are in the 4th position in the points table. England also find themselves at the bottom of the 10 team table and are facing the possibility of elimination from the tournament.

Warner confirmed that despite England’s struggles, they remain a formidable opponent, especially when they have nothing to lose.
