“We are Equal to Top Teams” Statement Passed by Afghanistan Captain Hashmadullah Shahidi

After the Clash with Australia in Mumbai, Hashmadullah Shahidi Says ” We are Equal to Top Teams”: On November 7, Tuesday, there is a match going on between Afghanistan and Australia for ICC World Cup 2023, at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

And talking at the pre-match press conference, Afghanistan captain Shahidi, passed a statement that ” We are equal to other top teams that are in the ongoing World Cup.

Before playing the game with Australia, the Afghanistan team came to this, by winning back to back against Pakistan, England, and Sri Lanka.

Why Shahidi Says, “We are Equal to Top Team” in Press Conference?

If we look at Afghanistan before this World Cup, in the previous three ODI outings, they lost the game on every occasion with Australia. And in three of them,, two were world cups.

But Shahidi says if we have a a positive mindset everything goes well, listen to to these words from the Shahidi.

“That belief is there. I tell the team also that in every game we go to the ground, we have to be positive, and our mindset should be to win. It doesn’t matter if the opposition team is Australia, England, India, or Netherland”.

Before this world cup, Afghanistan just won only two in 50-over ICC World Cup tournments. But this tie they are rocking in this world cup. And listen to the words that was said by Shahidi, captain of Afghanistan.

“We didn’t have a good past in World Cup history. We only won one game. But coming to this World Cup, we believe that we can do better. And the gap which we had before, I think it’s now like I feel we are equal to the teams which are in the top level. And we might be still learning, but talent-wise, we are a good team. I believe that”. 

Along with that, shahidi also added about their spinners team and said  “It depends on the pitch. If the pitch suits our spinners and if there is something in the pitch, so I will be very happy. Yeah, I will be very happy because the world knows that our spinning department is best in the world – we can trouble any team. I am hopeful that there will be something in the pitch for the spinners and I will feel happy if that happened”.
