Balaji After Sri Lanka Pacer Gets Fit in IPL 2024: Pathirana had a hamstring tear during the Srilanka T20 against Bangladesh. So with that injury, he missed the CSK opening match with RCB on March 22 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

So, in his place, CSK picked Mustafizur Rahman for the first match and he played well in that match and won the player of the match award. Now, as Pathirana has sustained well with the injury, he is ready to get back into the team.

It became a headache to choose between Pathirana and Mustafizur.

Indian Premier League has started well with an elaborate opening ceremony which delighted the crowd with a delightful encounter between Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

Pathirana is the bowler who had gained MS Dhoni’s faith with Stupendous death bowling. Mustafizur is also a good one CSK bought him for Rs. 2 Crore.

As Pathirana got injured Mustafizur got a chance to play on an opening day, but as Pathirana is back in play now it became a headache for the CSK team to choose one between them.

According to Balaji, Mustafizur is good enough in place of Pathirana out of playing XI. As his potential is good at bowling.

Speaking to ‘Star Sports Press Room’ Balaji told Star Sports that,

“For a new entrant like Mustafizur to perform on the very first game was phenomenal. But what Pathirana did was he provided the cushion CSK wanted for a long time, especially after (Dwayne) Bravo, because Bravo used to provide that cushion during the death overs to CSK.”

“Pathirana straightaway got fit into that role and it probably depends on how well new ball bowlers bowl according to that, Pathirana might have to wait. Because Mustafizur can bowl in the death and the start as well. So probably in that aspect, I feel it’s a good headache to have when you have a fit Pathirana into the side.”
