Thriving chase despite anxious moments in the Ranchi Test

On the last day of the Ind vs Eng match, India started their target hunt of 192 at 40/0. The team met some worried moments during the chase but ultimately appeared victorious. The opening alliance between captain Rohit (55) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (37) was powerful and applied a solid foundation with their 84-run partnership.

Yet, the discharge of both batsmen drove some anxious moments, and the team suffered a quick fall of wickets. Despite the setback, Shubman Gill (52) and Dhruv Jurel (39) steadied the ship and navigated the team to win with an unchanged partnership of 72 runs for the sixth wicket.

The left-arm spinner Tom Hartley brought the key wicket of Rohit, while Shoaib Bashir emerged as the most successful English bowler, taking 3/79 in the second innings, and collecting a total of eight wickets in the match. It was a tense finish, but India played with grit and skill to fix the victory.

With a 3-1 head in the series, India now allows for the last game organized in Dharamsala from March 7. The team’s final home series loss dates back to 2012-13, against an Alastair Cook-led England.
