Cricket Analyst Akash Chopra names a pacer Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) could buy in IPL auction

Indian cricket analyst Akash Chopra has shed light on Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) potential strategy for the IPL 2024 auction. KKR franchise looks to break their 10-year title drought in the upcoming IPL season. As the third most successful franchise in IPL history after MI and CSK, KKR is gearing up for the 17th edition.

KKR is heading to auction with a purse of Rs 32.70 crore and can buy a maximum of 12 players including 4 overseas. They are ready to participate in the IPL auction 2024 that is going to be held on December 19, Tuesday at Dubai with 13 13-member squad.

Speaking on his Youtube channel Akash believed that the KKR is lacking in the seam-bowling department and may be eager to buy someone like Sri Lanka’s Dilshan Madushanka. He said that other franchises might also target him for better results.

“They have not given themselves too many options. They have two Indian fast bowlers in the form of Harshit Rana and Vaibhav Arora but they won’t be able to do the job alone. Andre Russell’s bowling ability remains a huge doubt in any case,” Chopra said.

“I feel they will go shopping for fast bowlers. Very few franchises will be able to outbid them because they have a lot of money. If I know Gautam Gambhir well, his sights will be set on Madushanka. So Madushanka might actually have a field day. He might get sold for six to eight crores,” he concluded.
