Arun Call backs Ravi Shastri's Cape Town advice before Ind's 2nd SA test

Bowling Coach Bharat Arun Call Backs Ravi Shastri’s Cape Town Advice Before IND’s 2nd SA Test: In his recent talk with RevSportz Interviewer, Arun recalled Ravi Shastri’s advice from the 2018 test match in Cape Town after the completion of 1st innings. He pointed out where the Indian pace bowlers made a mistake.

Former India Bowling Coach Said About India’s Performance On the First SA Test

After the first defeat against South Africa in Centurion with 32 runs, Arun feels that the fast bowlers were criticized more than the batting players. Some could even have a lot of expectations for the Cape Town match which is going to commence on Wednesday.

Arun was quick to memorize India’s terrific return from the notorious 36-all out to secure a series victory in Australia during the 2020/21 tour. Also, he called the comeback of Jasprit Bumrah to first-class cricket in Centurion.

Despite Arun rued the lack of aid from co-pace bowlers, he repeated ex-India head coach Ravi Shastri’s speech from the Cape Town game in the 2018 tour as guidance for the pace unit before the series-saving game in Newlands.

Talking to RevSportz, two days before the big game in Cape Town, Bharat was kind to Kagiso Rabada and asked the Indian colleagues to take a leaf away from his book and focus on that 4-6 meter mark. He also mentioned that only Bumrah’s bowling amazed him in the first Test from the Indian unit.

“If you really look at the discipline that the South Africans showed, if you look at the pitch map of Rabada in the first innings, it was impeccable. Yes, the four-to-six-metre marks are the best, because that gives you a chance for the ball to move as well, or even seam off the wicket.

You’re bowling that much quicker because of the trajectory. So not only that, if you look at the line which Rabada bowled, I thought that was exceptional. And the only comparison I can say is I was pretty impressed with Bumrah’s bowling,” Arun expressed.

What Was The Ravi Shastri’s Advice To Indian Team In 2018?

In a recent cricket match, Arun reviewed the performance of the fast bowlers – Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and debutant Prasidh Krishna – and shared the Indian cricket team’s coach, Ravi Shastri advice.

Arun remembered that at the time of the 2018 Test match in Cape Town, India had acknowledged 286 runs in the first innings, but the team made a comeback in the 2nd innings by giving away only 130 runs and taking all 10 wickets.

All thanks to the pace bowlers. Despite the loss, Shastri’s guidance was confirmed to be useful, and Arun employed it to clarify where the present bowlers erred.

“The rest of them, if you look at their lines, there was much to be desired. Far too much width and also, on certain occasions, far too short. So that that doesn’t suit, you know, when you’re bowling in South Africa. Like I remember the conversation Ravi Shastri had after the Cape Town Test first innings – he said I want you guys to leave the driving licence at home.

Unless you have something specific, attack them all the time. So, that was the key. That’s when the entire bowling revolution started. So I think discipline is of most importance,” he stated.
