Dean Elgar’s Words After Loss In Farewell Test: South Africa happily won the first match that was held in Centurion, after taking a win, they prepared for the second test match, no one had a clue that South Africa would be bowled out in 55 runs.

For South Africa, it might be the biggest shock, as their happiness of winning the first match didn’t last long. Especially for Elgar, this is very disappointing, due to Temba’s injury he got a chance to be a skipper before his retirement.

If South Africa wins the series, for Elgar it will be a memorable Farewell, but unfortunately, it took another turn that no one expected. India beat South Africa by 7 wickets to make the two-match series equal win.

Dean Elgar has said that a three-match Test series would’ve been fantastic after his side’s loss at the Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.

India chased 79 run target on Day 2 to win the match by 7 wickets. And India took the first-ever win in Capetown. South Africa got out for 55 runs and 176 runs.

Elgar with a positive mind said that he was very happy and proud of his performance in the farewell test. Speaking after the Capetown test, Elgar said that,

“I would have liked to do more in this game. Still very proud of the performance I had in Centurion. Nice to contribute to a winning cause. Some really tough conditions throughout. It (3-Test series) would have been fantastic.”

If we look at it, Elgar scored 201 runs in a total of two match test series against India, and he is the leading run-scorer. And also while giving the award to Bumrah for the Player of the series, he said that, as a joke, he never needed to face the India bowling attack.

“You want to challenge yourself, Bumrah is world-class, he deserves this award. You want to push yourself to the limits. Glad that I don’t have to face these guys again. Fond memories. We’ve come a long way.

Very grateful to play against these guys. A lot of good memories, I received it (green cap) in 2012, and I have missed only one series. It’s got a special place. Only leaves for duty, that’s done and dusted,” he said.

As the series is completed with India, South Africa will make a move to face New Zealand to play a two-match test series, which is going to start on Feb 4.
