SA pacer Lungi Ngidi Ruled Out from Delhi Capitals for IPL 2024, Replace Him with Australian all-rounder

IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals have signed Australian all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as a replacement for the South Africa fast bowler Lungi Ngidi, who has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2024 due to an injury.

Fraser-McGurk has joined the DC franchise at his reserve price of Rs 50 lakh.

“Delhi Capitals (DC) named all-rounder Jake Fraser-McGurk as a replacement for Lungisani Ngidi for the upcoming edition of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Ngidi, who has played 14 IPL matches and has 25 wickets against his name, was ruled out of the TATA IPL 2024 due to injury. Jake Fraser-McGurk has played 2 ODIs for Australia. He joins DC for his reserve price of INR 50 Lac,” IPL stated.

Delhi Capitals completed 9th in the points table last season and are hoping to make improvements in their performance. They lost 9 games and won just 5 in the previous tournament.

Harry Brook, another DC player, has also opted out of the tournament due to the death of his grandmother.

Earlier, the BCCI announced that Rishah Pant has been declared fit and is free to lead the franchise. He was out of cricket for more than 15 months after a car accident.

Pant has been part of DC since 2016 and has scored 2838 runs in 98 matches at an average of 34.61 and a strike rate of over 147, laced with one century and 15 fifties.

The 17th edition of the IPL will start on March 22, with the defending champions CSK taking on RCB. Delhi Capitals will play their home matches at Vizag on March 31 and April 3 against CSK and KKR respectively.

Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium is currently hosting the Women’s Premier League 2024 matches and will not be ready on time for IPL 2024.
