‘If Rishabh Pant is Fit on Even one Leg…’ Sunil Gavaskar Praises the ‘Game Changer’: As the T20 World Cup 2024 is gearing up to entertain cricket lovers, everyone’s eye is on Team India. By having the massive talented players in the team India, the officials of BCCI will be facing the contest to finalize their squad and solve the middle-order conundrum.

One more question to BCCI is who should be India’s choice for the middle-order batting role in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 series. In a recent interview, the legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar shared his perception & preference between the charged Rishabh Pant and the flexible KL Rahul.

‘If Rishabh Pant is Fit on Even one Leg…’ Sunil Gavaskar Praises the ‘Game Changer’

During the interaction with Star Sports on the Game Plan show, Gavaskar expressed that Rishabh Pant must try and come back to the Indian side as he can become the ‘game changer’.

“I see him Rahul as a wicketkeeper as well but I will say one thing before that – if Rishabh Pant is fit on even one leg, he should come in the team because he is a game-changer in every format. If I am the selector, I will put his name first,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.

“However, if Rishabh Pant is unavailable and KL Rahul keeps wickets, it will be good because the balance will also get created. Then you have the option to play him as an opener or use him in the middle order as a finisher at No. 5 or No. 6,” he added.

Later, he said that the appearance of Jitesh Sharma would enhance the selection headache before the T20I World Cup 2023.

“Competition between players is good. All three players are good. We have seen Jitesh Sharma. He is an impressive striker and finisher. In T20 cricket, wicketkeepers usually stay back and are rarely close to the stumps. So even if you don’t have that much wicketkeeping prowess but have batting and form, you can come in the team,” Gavaskar added.
