India’s Prime Batter Shreyas is all set to come back in the Ranji Trophy Semi: REPORT- Shreyas Iyer is gearing up to perform for Mumbai in the forthcoming Ranji Trophy semifinal against Tamil Nadu. The cricketer was earlier dropped from the Indian squad for the last three Test matches against England, tracking his unsatisfactory game in the first two Tests.

In a proposal to encourage contracted players to perform for their state squads in the Ranji Trophy, the BCCI gave a stern ultimatum. Yet, Iyer chose to overlook the quarterfinals for Mumbai citing a back injury. Despite this, the NCA chief head of sports science and medicine, Nitin Patel, denied any new injury to Shreyas Iyer.

According to the recent TOI Report, Shreyas can be seen playing for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy Semifinals, which commence on 2nd March 2024. He has also confirmed to the MCA that he is fit and open for selection in the semifinal.

Here’s What Iyer told BCCI, “Yes, Iyer has confirmed to the Mumbai Cricket Association that he is fit now and available for Mumbai’s Ranji semi-final”.

It has been said that Washington Sundar and Sai Sudharsan are possible to be formed in Tamil Nadu’s team for their forthcoming game against Mumbai this week. Further, Shreyas Iyer, who earlier performed for Mumbai, also experienced in the opening round of the Ranji Trophy as a part of his practice for the England Test series.

Iyer had to skip the entire Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2023 due to a back injury. Nevertheless, he is ready to make a comeback in the 2024 edition of the cash-rich league, where he will be taking responsibility as the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) team captain.
