Legendary Sachin set to take field once again against Yuvraj

The legendary Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh are all set to return to the cricket field, by leading two teams in the “One World One Family Cup” scheduled for January 18 at Sathya Sai Grama, Bengaluru.

The Madhusudhan Sai Global Humanitarian Mission organised the friendly match to promote the philosophy of the “one world one family” theme, mainly focusing on nutrition, education, and healthcare for those in need across more than 30 countries.

Bharat Ratna awardee Sachin Tendulkar and Padma Sri awardee Yuvraj Singh will captain two teams, featuring a stellar lineup of cricketing stars like Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan, Muttiah Muralitharan, Chaminda Vaas, Monty Panesar, RP Singh, Venkatesh Prasad, Danny Morrison and more players from 7 countries.

The Sri Krishna Stadium is a five-petaled sports arena with 3,500 seats across 4 galleries and a centre stage, it will witness the unique cricketing event fostering unity and the spirit of a global family.

The ‘One World One Family Cup’ match aims to convey the message of embracing everyone as part of one world family – vasudhaiva kutumbakam. A few players from the historic 1983 Cricket World Cup team will also be present to witness the friendship match, showing solidarity towards the cause.

Former Indian cricket Sunil Gavaskar, known for his 34 centuries, showed his excitement about participating in the special innings for the needy persons served by the Sri Madhusudan Sai Global Humanitarian Mission.

“Cricket is more than just a sport, it is a powerful platform that unites people from all walks of life. Over the years, I have witnessed the immense power of sports to bring people together and make a positive impact on society,” Gavaskar said.

“This unique friendship match aims to leverage the popularity of cricket to draw attention to the pressing issues faced by the underprivileged of our society, and the great work being done by Sadguru Sri Madhusudan Sai in the spirit of One World One Family – vasudhaiva kutumbam,” Gavaskar added.

Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh plaed this last competitive match in October 2022 when they featured against Sri Lanka Legends while playing for India Legends in the Road Safety World series tournament.
