Rohit Sharma Says 'This is one of our best Test Victories'

Rohit Sharma Says ‘This is one of our best Test Victories’: Skipper Rohit Sharma measured India’s series-equalling, 7-wicket win here on Thursday as “one of their best” in the long pattern. The comeback of the Indian team is very strong in the second and final Test against South Africa.

Appreciation for the outstanding performance of fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj is a must. This pair bagged 15 of the 20 South African wickets to close the victory for India inside five sessions. This was a terrific turnaround for India after suffering with 32-run loss in the opener at Centurion.

What Exactly Rohit’s Feeling On This Shortest Victory?

“It will be one of our best Test match victories. Having never won here, it’s right up there with all the victories we have had,” the drowsy captain stated after winning the shortest Test match in the history of the game.

“It’s hard to compare Tests which you win elsewhere. Hard to rank these Tests. Every Test match has its relevance and importance. The game is in Gabba. The last time Australia lost there was in 1988, I think. It became their fortress and the way we won that Test was important,” the Indian head conveyed.

“You can’t rank the Tests. It’s right up there though. That shows how important a venue it is to come here and win. Credit to the team.”

The captain expressed an implicit urge to experience a three-match Test series but was content with the outcome of a draw as it marked a fortunate beginning to the year 2024.

“That’s not in our hands. I can’t decide on fixtures, I would do something else entirely. What’s there is there. We take pride in playing this series,” the head of India replied when requested to tell if a three-match series could be ideal.

“We lost the first game, they played well. We won here, we played well. Cape Town, we have never won here, for this young group, this is a matter of pride for us. We can take confidence from this series,” said the Indian skipper.

“Winning Test matches is important. This start to the new year is good. But in my opinion, I didn’t think about starting the new year with a win. We also lost a couple of points due to overrate, so winning this was important”, he expressed.
