Rohit Sharma's Reaction To India's Defeat in Hyderabad Test

Rohit Sharma’s Reaction To India’s Defeat in Hyderabad Test: After many long years, England’s comeback is extraordinary as they won against India by 28 runs at Hyderabad on Sunday.

As a captain, Rohit Sharma cannot able to find a reason for the loss against England. For the first time in history, India lost the game against England in its hometown even though they were leading with 10 runs in the first innings.

Presently, England was very happy as they won the match and made the lead of 1-0.

‘Wanted Siraj and Bumrah to….’: Rohit Sharma

India is in shock that they lost the game in its hometown, no one can share the perfect reason for the loss even skipper Rohit Sharma says that they cannot say one reason too for the loss.

In the initial game, India seemed to win the game as they were in leading with 190 runs in the first innings. But England batter Ollie Pop has made an extraordinary batting and scored 196 runs where all the game changed.

His immense play in the second inning put pressure on R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who conceded 100 runs in the second innings. In the post-match press conference,

Rohit Sharma opened up on the match after being defeated by England,

“Overall, we failed as a team. We didn’t bat well enough. I wanted them (Siraj and Bumrah) to take the game to the fifth day. The lower order fought well there. You must be brave enough, which I thought we weren’t.”

“It’s hard to pinpoint where it went wrong. Having got a lead of 190, we thought we were very much in the game. (It was) exceptional batting (by Ollie Pope), one of the best that I have seen in Indian conditions by an overseas batter.”

He also added “We didn’t bat well enough to get to that score. I wanted them (Siraj and Bumrah) to take the game to the fifth day. (With) 20-30 runs, anything is possible.

The lower order fought well there and showed the top order that you need to fight it out. You need to show character, you need to be brave enough, which I thought we weren’t.

We wanted to take some chances, we didn’t take chances with the bat. But that can happen. It’s the first game of the series, I hope the guys can learn from that.”

And even Rohit Sharma says that beating 201 runs is not a tough job for England. Hope that India will come back strongly for the second test match going to be held on Feb 2nd in Vishakhapatnam.
