Ruturaj Gaikwad is Going to Take MS Dhoni Place As a Captain of CSK: Everyone are eagerly waiting for the IPL 2023 which is going to start on March 22.

And CSK prepared to defend their title in the IPL 2024, starting with a match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 22. But suddenly the news came out that, Dhoni has stepped down from his captaincy.

MS Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings for the five IPL titles. Dhoni is set to turn to 43 for coming July as speculations continue to build on whether the upcoming IPL could be his last as a player.

As a sudden surprise Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Thursday steeped down from his captaincy and Ruturaj Gaikwad has replaced as a new skipper for 17th edition Indian Premier League.

Even last time also he stepped out of captaincy by giving place to Ravindra Jadeja but again in the middle he came into his shoes and led CSK to the fifth IPL title 2023.

Dhoni is the most successful IPL captain with a whopping 133 wins followed by Rohit Sharma at 87. He played 250 IPL matches, amassing 5,082 runs at an average of 38.79 and making 24 half-centuries.

On X(formerly Twitter), CSK has announced their new captain as Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Also CSK has stated in the website that,

“MS Dhoni has handed over Chennai Super Kings’ captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad before the start of TATA IPL 2024. Ruturaj has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2019 and has played 52 matches in IPL during this period.”

They added, “The team looks forward to the upcoming season.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad, a right-handed batsman with CSK since the 2019 IPL auction, has shown remarkable form and consistency.

In the IPL 2023 season, he played an important role, amassing 590 runs in 16 appearances, showcasing his potential to lead the team into the future.

Dhoni is expected to retire at the end of the season but the franchise felt the need for a smooth transition in Dhoni’s presence as a player.
