Dwayne Bravo labels Ishan Kishan as most gifted company amid BCCI contract controversy

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer are at the centre of the conversation for not playing domestic cricket while giving importance to the IPL. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has left them out of the central contracts.

Despite a setback, there is no denying that Ishan is one of the most gifted players, which West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo accepted. He shared a picture with the wicket-keeper batter and Nicholas Pooran from the pre-wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Jamnagar, Gujarat.

The BCCI had clarified that Ishan and Iyer were not considered for the annual contracts.

“The BCCI has recommended that all athletes give precedence to participating in domestic cricket during periods when they are not representing the national team.”

Kishan last turned up for India in a T20I match against Australia in Guwahati in November 2023. He was part of the T20I squad for the South Africa tour last year and travelled to the Rainbow Nation with the rest of the team. However, he was left warning the bench there before seeking a mental health break to leave the tour midway and return home.

Ishan Kishan has since not played for India amid reports that the selectors and the team management were unhappy when pictures of his brother’s birthday in Dubai went viral during his break time. Ishan was snubbed from India’s squad for the T20I series against Afghanistan and was also not named in the Test squad for the ongoing Test series against England.

Why was Ishan Kishan denied the BCCI Central Contract?

Kishan took a mental health break from competitive cricket during the South Africa tour and made himself unavailable for selection for team India, As per the report, BCCI got in touch with the wicket keeper batter during India’s ongoing Test series against England. However, he said that he was not ready to return to Test which gives place for Dhruv Jurel in the squad.

Dhruv Jurel made his debut in the 3rd Test against England in Rajkot and bagged the Player of the Match award for his batting heroics in the recently finished 4th Test in Ranchi. Both the selectors and the team management were unhappy with the fact that Kishan decided to train with Hardik Pandya in Baroda while he remained unavailable for selection.
