India T20 World Cup 2024 Live Updates: The deadline for sending a provisional squad list for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 is nearing. Indian captain Rohit Sharma and chief selector Ajit Agarkar reportedly met informally in the national capital recently apparently to discuss the squad composition.

As per reports, Agarkar flew into Delhi for Saturday’s IPL match between MI and DC. It also presented him with a chance to take clarity with the T20 captain on the squad makeup.

There is a possibility of a left-field selection and one option could be Mumbai Indians batter Tilak Varma, who is a flamboyant southpaw and can also bowl handy off-spin in case the opposition has more left-handers.

Rohit Sharma was confirmed as the captain earlier this year by BCCI secretary Jay Shah. There are multiple claimants for each spot in the playing XI meaning the selectors will have a tough task shortlisting ideal backups.

Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Hardik Pandya (VC), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Ashwin Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, and Kamran Khan.

India will play their first T20 World Cup 2024 match against Ireland on 5 June (8 PM IST). It will be followed by group games against Pakistan (9 June at 8 PM IST), USA (12 June at 8 PM IST) and Canada (15 June at 8 PM IST).
