Indian Premier League 2024: CSK and New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell recently displayed a kind gesture during one of the CSK’s practice sessions. The incident occurred while Mitchell was honoring his skills at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala before the match against Punjab Kings and his powerful pull shot accidentally hit a fan’s iPhone.

But realising the mishap, Mitchell apologised to the fan. The impact of his shot not only damaged the phone but also seemingly injured the fan, who immediately fell to the seat, clutching his hand.

After identifying the seriousness of the incident, Mitchell took a thoughtful step to make amends. He went to the young fan and presented him with a signed pair of batting gloves. This kind act helped lighten the mood and salvage what could have been a disappointing experience for the fan.

Meanwhile, Daryl Mitchell is enjoying his fun time with the Yellow Brigade and recently spoke about how he loves the challenge of versatility in his new role at Chennai Super Kings.

“For me firstly to play international cricket at a later age, it’s a blessing that it allowed me to learn my game at the domestic level for some time and work out not only the cricketer that I want to be but also the sort of person I want to be off the field as well. And I think that’s again a real blessing to be able to do that,” Daryl Mitchell said.

“And I love competing. That’s what drives me – getting stuck into whatever job I have got to do to help us win games of cricket. And, here at Chennai, it’s doing that sort of No.4 and No.5 role and managing the middle and getting us into positions to allow the big boys at the end to try and launch it. So I am loving doing different jobs for the team and it’s good fun,” Daryl Mitchell added.

Mitchell had also spoken about his role in the middle order and said, “Yeah, for me, I guess that’s the cool thing about batting in the middle order it is never the same. Each innings is always different. That’s something I pride myself on is that I can adapt to different situations and work out ways to keep trying to extend partnerships and, also put pressure back on the bowlers… It was cool to see the boys at the top make the most of that new ball and set the platform.”
