Not Virat Kohli, Cameron Green Becomes Most Expensive Player in RCB

Mumbai Indians pulled off the biggest coup of the IPL trading window in 2023 as they managed to move star all-rounder Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans in an all-cash deal involving an undisclosed transfer fee. MI had to let go of Australian all-rounder Cameron Green to accommodate Hardik, who was earning a salary of Rs 15 crore at the GT franchise.

Mumbai Indians had bought Cameron Green for Rs 17.50 crore at last year’s auction process and he was now traded to RCB for the same price to pave the way for Pandya’s return to the MI franchise. After Green successful mega trade to Royal Challengers Banglore, he became the most expensive player in the history of RCB, overtaking former captain Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli was retained by RCB for Rs 17 crore ahead of the IPL 2018 mega auction and he has remained with the franchise for the same salary. Kolhi was the highest-paid player of RCB before the Green’s arrival on November 27. With Rs 17.50 crore, Cameron Green has become the most expensive player in the history of RCB.

Highest Paid Players in RCB History

Here we are listing some of the expensive players of RCB’s history.

  • Cameron Green – Rs 17.5 crore
  • Virat Kohli – Rs 17 crore
  • Kyle Jamieson – Rs 15 crore
  • Glenn Maxwell – Rs 14.25 crore
  • Yuvraj Singh – Rs 14 crore

Initially, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green was bought by MI for around Rs 17.50 crore in the IPL auction 2023. Thus he became the second-most expensive player in IPL history after Punjab King’s player Sam Curran. Green went on to have a decent season for the MI with 452 runs from 17 matches including a century. He also picked up 6 wickets for five-time champions, who endured a disappointing season and failed.

List of Players Released by RCB Ahead of IPL 2024 Mega Auction

RCB once again want to win the IPL trophy. The franchise has released 11 players ahead of the upcoming auction, including Wanindu Hasaranga, and Josh Hazlewood. They literally released their complete first-choice bowling attack except for Mohammed Siraj.

RCB will have to go after both Indian and overseas pacers and spinners at the auction as their bowling department lacks serious depth at the moment.

The players released by RCB are Wanindu Hasaranga, Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood, Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, David Willey, Wayne Parnell, Sonu Yadav, Avinash Singh, Siddharth Kaul, Kedar Jadhav.
