Travis Head Talks About Opening in Test Cricket, ” I Don’t See Myself….”: After the World Cup 2023, David Warner announced their retirement and he is in the last stage of his test cricket after the completion of this Pakistan series, he is going to retire.

So as that position will be vacant, there are next top persons and front runners like Matthew Renshaw, Cameron Bancroft, and Marcus Harris. But a few specialist openers have come up with Travis’s name as he has shown brilliant performance in the recent ODI World Cup 2023.

And he played an opener role very well. But he feels opening in red ball cricket is a specialist’s job and he is happy with the middle order role in test cricket.

I Don’t See Myself in Opening Test Cricket By Travis Head

In the recent time of the year, Travis played an opener role, and the innings that he had taken were an amazing 233 runs, at an average of 55.75. And as he is a good opener, when some of the specialists gave his name in the place of David Warner, the Head himself came away from the contention by saying,

“[Selectors are] happy with me in the middle order,” Travis Head told reporters in Perth ahead of the first Test against Pakistan starting on Thursday.

“I think [opening] it’s a specialist job. The guys who have been waiting to get into the team for a while deserve the first crack at it. But the conversations are ongoing with everyone…only one for me is [opening in] the subcontinent. I don’t see myself moving around too much in the future.”

Even recently he played in a test series in Australia and India, and even though he played well they could not convert into winning. He also thinks,

“I’m not a lock for that T20 World Cup, so I wanted to present and try to perform and try and get myself in that team. We felt like that was the greater opportunity to play the three T20s [than Shield]. We haven’t got many T20 opportunities coming up over the next little bit, so it was sort of that last chance to press my claims to make sure that I’m in the mix.”
