U19 World Cup 2024: Uday Saharan on field argument with Ariful goes viral

Under 19 Team India captain, Uday Saharan engaged in a verbal argument with Bangladesh bowler Ariful Islam during his 116-run stand with Adarsh Singh in the ICC Men’s Under 19 World Cup 2024 match on Saturday.

The incident happened during the second delivery of the 25th over. Ariful Islam was bowling his second over, witnessed Uday effortlessly paddle a full delivery to short fine leg and took a single.

Airful was seen frustrated and uttered some unparliamentary words directed at the Indian captain. In response, Uday engaged in a heated exchange with Airful, escalating the tension.

The umpire had to interfere in the discussion to defuse the situation, but it is evident that there was an underlying tension between these promising young cricketers from India and Bangladesh.

The Indian captain is a right-handed top-order batter from Punjab. His leadership skills were previously showcased during the U19 Asia Cup, where India lost in the semifinal against Bangladesh.

Despite the setback, Saharan and his team entered the U19 World Cup as defending champions, having secured the title in the previous edition in 2022. India won the Under 19 World Cup title 5 times and is expecting to continue the triumph.
