Rahul Dravid Unlikely to Continue as India Head Coach, VVS Laxman To Replace Him Soon

Indian former cricketer Rahul Dravid is unlikely to continue as the head coach for the Indian team and could be replaced by a former India teammate VVS Laxman soon. Dravid’s two-year contract as head coach came to an end with the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final and there are many speculations that he is not willing to continue his job so other teammates can get an opportunity.

As per the report in Times of India, Rahul Dravid attended his last match as India head coach during the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 final and he has also informed the BCCI about his decision.

With the T20I World Cup 2024 will be going to held in January and the Champions Trophy following, the BCCI faces the crucial decision of appointing a new head coach. Recent reports say that Rahul Dravid can be replaced by the current National Cricket Academy director, VVS Laxman.

Rumours are surrounding this topic as India is playing the T20I series against Australia. By considering Laxman’s experience as a player and as a coach, he has a chance. However, the BCCI has not officially announced the decision.

Laxman’s journey as a coach has gained momentum with his recent appointments. Serving as India’s interim head coach for Ireland’s T20I series before the World Cup showed his ability to lead the team effectively. He even worked as a mentor for the SRH team in the IPL.
