Yuvraj Singh to contest Lok Sabha election on BJP ticket India star makes BIG claim

Former Indian cricketer and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh on March 1 denied media reports suggesting his candidacy in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls from Gurdaspur with a BJP ticket. Using Twitter, he clarified his commitment to supporting people through his foundation, emphasizing his decision not to venture into politics.

Taking his social media handle, the former India all-rounder posted on X, “Contrary to media reports, I’m not contesting elections from Gurdaspur. My passion lies in supporting and helping people in various capacities, and I will continue to do so through my foundation, ‘YouWeCan’. Let’s continue making a difference together to the best of our abilities.”

This comes after Yuvraj’s name emerged in the media as a political contender for a BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) ticket from Punjab’s Gurdaspur constituency. The two-time World Cup winner, however, denied such claims and said that he would continue to make a difference through his foundation.

Presently, popular actor Sunny Deol is an MP from Gurdaspur, representing the BJP. After Yuvraj Singh met with Union Minister Nitin Gadkari last month, Yuvraj’s name is circulating as the star’s replacement in the elections.
The development comes before the Lok Sabha elections, which are likely to be held in April-May 2024.

At 42, Yuvraj is gearing up for the Legends Cricket Trophy 2024, kicking off on March 8 at Pallekele Stadium in Kandy, Sri Lanka, where he will be representing NY Superstar Strikers.

Yuvraj’s cricket journey reached its latest milestone in October 2022, contributing India Legends’ win in the Road Safety World Series final. Yuvraj’s imprint on India’s victories in the T20 World Cup 2007 and ODI World Cup 2011 is noteworthy.

His impressive 6 consecutive sixes against Stuart Broad in the inaugural T20 World Cup and the enduring record for the fastest T20I fifty, held for over 16 years, solidify his legacy in the cricketing realm.
