'This Indian Team is Ripe, Weak in the Field': Geoffrey Boycott Blasts Indian Skipper & Co.

Geoffrey Boycott bashes Rohit Sharma, saying ‘India captain makes pretty cameos but…’: Boycott considered that the continued five-match Test series between England and India could be a golden chance for the Ben Stokes-led side to secure a home series win over the hard Indian team.

It’s worth noting that India hasn’t lost a series at home in the last 12 years, and a win for England in this series would be a marked triumph.

Ex-English opener Geoffrey Boycott judges India captain Rohit Sharma as “past his prime” and the commentators poorly missed the peerless Virat Kohli in the series opener against England in Hyderabad.

‘Rohit Sharma is nearly 37 and past his best’ says Geoffrey

“Their captain Rohit Sharma is nearly 37 and past his best. He makes pretty cameos but has only scored two Test hundreds at home in four years. They are also weak in the field. This India team is ripe for the taking, and England has a golden chance to be the first side to topple them on their patch for 12 years. India badly misses Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja has a hamstring injury and will not play the second Test,” Boycott noted in his column for the Daily Telegraph.

Boycott voiced ‘India are due a defeat at home’

Right now, India is facing a notable selection spot ahead of their forthcoming match against England. After their majestic performance in the first Test, two of India’s key players, Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul, will not be able to participate in the second game.

Jadeja has suffered a hamstring injury, while Rahul has griped discomfort in his right quadriceps. The absence of these two players will undoubtedly be a major blow to India, and they will have to come up with a new game plan to deal with England’s formidable team.

“India is due a defeat at home. The signs are good, as they have lost Kohli, Jadeja, Mohammad Shami, and Rishabh Pant and are playing opponents full of confidence after a remarkable win. England must take this rare opportunity,” Boycott added.
