IPL 2024 Trophy unveiled in Dubai ahead of the auction

IPL 2024: The Indian Premier League 2024 trophy has been revealed ahead of the IPL auction 2024 in Dubai. The auction will be held on 19 December 2023 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, making it the first time an auction has taken place overseas.

Overall, 333 players are registered for the auction process this time. The BCCI is understood to have received 1,166 applications for the auction and eventually retained around a quarter of those players on the shortlist.

Taking the famous social media platform Twitter called X, IPL officials wrote, “Welcome to Dubai! We are all set for the #IPLAuction The trophy in all its glory.”

“Out of 333 players, 214 are Indians and 119 are overseas players of which 2 players are from associate nations. The total number of capped players is 116, uncapped players are 215 and 2 are from associate nations. A maximum of 77 slots are now available with up to 30 being slotted for overseas players,” read a statement shared by IPL.

Overall, 77 slots are available for the 10 franchises. Out of the remaining, 30 are allotted for overseas players. Players set to be auctioned are divided into 3 categories – Indian capped, Indian uncapped and overseas cricketers. The sets have been further divided based on their roles such as batters, all-rounders, fast bowlers, wicketkeeper-batters and spinners.

According to the BCCI, the maximum salary cap is available with Gujarat Titans ( ₹38.15 crore), followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad ( ₹34 crore), Kolkata Knight Riders ( ₹32.7 crore), Chennai Super Kings ( ₹31.4 crore) and Punjab Kings ( ₹29.1 crore) while the lowest salary cap is available with Lucknow Super Giants ( ₹13.15 crore), followed by Rajasthan Royals ( ₹14.5 crore) and then Mumbai Indians ( ₹17.75 crore).

Rules of IPL Auction 2024

Two-time IPL winners KKR team have the highest number of vacancies at 12. On the other hand, IPL 2022 winners GT have the maximum purse among the franchises with INR 38.15 crore. The Gujarat Titans have recently traded their star all-rounder Hardik Pandya to Mumbai Indians. And MI has replaced Rohit with Hardik Pandya as a captain.

Players in the top list

The list of players in the top list is included here. Australia World Cup heroes Travis Head, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood. England batter Harry Brook, India pacer Harshal Patel, Shardul Thakur, New Zealand batter Rachin Ravindra and South Africa pacer Gerald Coetzee and Shardul Thakur.
