Keshav Maharaj reveals the reason why Ram Siya Ram is played whenever he comes to bat

Keshav Maharaj revealed that he requested to play the ‘Ram Siya Ram’ song during South Africa’s recent home ODI, Test and T20Is against India. It was a popular song from the Prabhas starring Adipurush that was being played when Maharaj came out to bat.

The 33-year-old Keshav Maharaj said that he enjoyed listening to the song while walking out to bat at the stadium.

“Something that I put forward to the media lady and requested that song to be played. For me, God has been my greatest blessing, giving me guidance and opportunity. So, it’s the least that I can do, and it also just gets you in your zone. It’s a nice feeling walking out (into the ground) to hear ‘Ram Siya Ram’ playing in the background,” Maharaj was quoted as saying to PTI.

Maharaj had a decent time in the ODI World Cup 2023 after he picked up 15 wickets from 10 matches at an economy rate of 4.15. During this while, he also became the number 1 ranked bowler in one-day international.

Maharaj has taken 158 wickets from 50 Tests at an economy rate of 3.16 with 4 four-wicket hauls, 1 ten-wicket hauls, and 9 five-wicket hauls to his name.

In ODIs and T20Is, South Africa’s pacer Maharaj picked up 55 and 24 wickets respectively. He also contributed with the bat, having scored 5 fifties with a top score of 84 to his name.

” I trust my processes and analysis work that I do but most importantly because of all the hard yards I have done and it’s not always going to pay off but looks good and it’s starting to pay off,” he concluded.

Maharaj is all set to captain Durban Super Giants in the upcoming edition of the SA20, which is scheduled to start on Wednesday, January 10. The Super Giants will lock horns with MI Cape Town in their first match on Thursday, January 11 at the Kingsmead in Durban.
