Virat Kohli’s Gesture Towards ‘Ram Siya Ram’ Song Steals Show At Cape Town

Team India former captain Virat Kohli vibed to the song ‘Ram Siya Ram’ during the first session of Day 1 in the second Test match against South Africa at Newlands in Cape Town on January 3, Wednesday.

In a video, Kohli folded his hands and made namaskar posture to pay his respects to Lord Rama while fielding during the opening session. According to the Ramayana, Lord Rama defeated Ravana with a bow and arrow, which also signified the victory of good over evil in Hindu mythology.

The ‘Ram Siya Ram’ song is usually played when Indian-origin Proteas Player Keshav Maharaj comes to bat.

The right-handed batter Virat Kohli achieved a new record during 1st Test in Centurion by becoming the top-scored player in India for the first Test with scores of 76 and 38 in his two innings combined.

Kohli has amassed 833 runs in eight Test at an average of 52.06, including two tons and four half-centuries, in South Africa. The 35-year-old will be looking to continue his purple patch with the bat against South Africa when India goes out to bat.
