As Rohit Sharmas bold move made a controversy and Rahul Dravid reacted to it.

Rahul Dravid About Retired Out Controversy

India vs Afghanistan 3rd T20I has been held on Wednesday at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on January 17, and it is the first ever international game in the history that was decided the winner by doble super over.

In the first super over, Rahul Dravid has done most of the work by hitting six in the boundary. But he retired himself in the last delivery and with that, Rinku Singh came into the ground.

Rahul Dravid talking to Jiocinema, “It was Ash-level thinking. Taking himself out was Ash-level thinking.”

And in the post match interview with the broadcaster, he said that,

“I think Rohit went with his gut, he went with a call… I think he felt that the spinner had a better chance to take those two wickets.

It was one of games when 11 wasn’t probably a huge score and where you know that if they batted those six balls, with the power they had, they probably would’ve got the 12 runs.

You needed to take two wickets. I think it was a great call from the skipper to go with the spinner,”

He also concluded that,

“The thing with Rohit is just the kind of range that he has. It’s hard to bowl at him when he’s set at the back end because you can’t bowl short – he’s really got the pull shot.

Good to have him back; his presence in the dressing room is helpful, terrific. Both Virat and him add a lit to this group.”

Afghanistan coach Jonathan Trott was also asked if the match officials had made any communications regarding the Indian skipper being adjudged retired hurt or retired out.

“I have no idea…Has there ever been two Super Overs? That’s what I am trying to say. It’s sort of like a new… we keep setting these new sort of rules. What I am trying to say is we kept testing the rules, we kept testing the guidelines.”

And even Dravid said at the end of the match,

“Fantastic game. It just went on and on and on. There was some incredible batting on display. Rohit and Rinku from our side and even from Afghanistan, some truly wonderful hitting ensued.

And then just brilliant to have a young bowler like Bishnoi at the end being able to hold his nerves and bowl two balls at the perfect length.

On this ground, if you err even a little bit, it was going to go for six. Really nice for a lot of the young boys, and for them to experience all this will certainly come in handy.”

Rohit Heaped Praise on Rinku Singh

As Rinku Singh has made India won by his wonderful performance Rohit heaped a praise on Rinku Singh.

“Creating the partnership was important but we kept talking to each other about not to lose that intent… Obviously for us, it was important that we bat as long as possible, bat deep but not to compromise with the intent that we wanted to show”

While being asked about Rinku Singh’s heroics, the Indian skipper said, “In the last couple of series that he played, he has shown what he can do with the bat.

Very fearless, keeps himself very calm, very clear about his game plan as well and knows his strengths pretty well. He is coming off age and doing the job that’s expected out of him.

Everytime he gets an opportunity, he creates an impression. Augurs well for the team moving forward, we wanted someone like that at the back end who can finish games like that with a very clear mindset.”

What Do the Rules Say About This Controversy of ‘Retired Not Out and Retired Out’
