‘That’s our best way to win the tournament’: SRH captain Pat Cummins

The Orange Army lost 78 runs against the Yellow Army in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 held on April 28. Till now, this season bowlers in the opposition team to SRH fear the SRH batters, but this time, they failed in the 213-run target.

After the loss against Chennai Suoer Kings, SRH skipper Pat Cummins stood silent and excluded the confidence to chase the target. In the post-match conference he revealed the secret behind their success was to bat aggressively throughout their quota of 20 overs.

“Just nothing went to plan tonight. It feels like we’re pretty well suited to chasing, but it hasn’t come off yet. So, something to work on, I guess.”

“I think T20 has just gone to a whole new level this season. I think the way we set up, I think that’s our best chance (batting aggressively). If, you know, we got some aggressive batters. I think that’s our best way to win the tournament, playing like that,” he added.

“To be frank. Yeah, batting. No, not that worried. This season they’ve been fantastic. So, um, it’s T20 cricket. You’re gonna have games where you don’t miss out, but the batter has been fantastic.”

Out of nine matches that SRH played in this IPL season 2024, they won five matches.
