Stephen Fleming Clarity On CSK Captain’s Retirement Rumors: On Tuesday, December 19, the IPL 2024 Auction was held in Dubai. And in that, Chennai Super Kings has bought Rachin Ravindra and Shardul Thakur.

Along with this, there is much speculation about whether MS Dhoni as he is already 41, will be for the next IPL season or not. But the Chennai Super Kings coach has given clarity on Dhoni’s retirement status.

And he reacted to MS Dhoni’s replacement as CSK Captain. In the Auction updates when he was asked about Dhoni’s succession plans and said,

“We’ve had succession plans for MS for about 10 years,” Fleming smiled.

“It is going to be a talking point., but he is as engaged and as enthusiastic as I have seen him for a while. While that passion is there for the team and franchise, we’ll roll on.”

Chennai Super Kings eventually attempted to replace MS Dhoni and appointed Ravindra Jadeja in 2022. But unfortunately, at that time, the five-time champions suddenly sunk to the bottom of the table.

Again in 2023, when they appointed Dhoni, they won the title in 2023 after beating Gujarat Titans in a rain-affected final in Ahmedabad.

Fleming also opened up on Daryl Mitchell on selecting him for the CSK. He said,

“He played just one game, so not massive shoes. Daryl is a different type of player, but his performances over the last 18-24 months have warranted this type of price. He is an unfashionable player and often goes under the radar.

With his ability to play spin, he is competitive and he is also a handy bowler. In Chepauk we can slide him into a role. Just like his performances, he fits in nicely and is a good buy for us,”
